This week, we learned that m&m’s have been around for 75 years! They are made at the Mars Chocolate Factory in New Jersey. This year, three new flavors were made: chili nut, coffee nut, and honey nut. Coffee nut won the popular vote, and will now be a flavor! We got to watch a funny m&m’s commercial- you can watch it here! Today, we did a “taste test” of eight different types of m&m’s. YUM!
We had our first speech lesson with Ms. Johnson. We got to show her our devices, we read more about the Olympics, and we told her all about the weekend.
Everyone did so well during our unexpected lockdown Tuesday morning. I was so impressed!
We did a fun activity to practice our food groups. The five food groups were on the board, and the students had to categorize the foods they were given.
We had another great music therapy class with Ms. Taylor. We got to play the drums and did some other rhythm activities. We did a name rap, and we wrote our own song about school. We also listened to a Mariah Carey song about the Olympics.
In art, we continued working on our jungle projects. We finished painting, and we will start making the birds next week.
We have been waiting for an adapted PE teacher to be assigned to our school, and we are so thrilled that Ms. Milak started at JCHS this week!
Sadly, Mrs. Austin (our paraprofessional), will be transferring to Northview HS on Monday. We celebrated her last day today with donuts!
The first home football game is tonight, and we have had a day full of school spirit! The theme is Hawaiian, so each student wore a lei today, and the football coach let us wear jerseys! We had a mini pep rally during lunch to learn the cheers and fight songs. It was so much fun! I will be working at the front visitor gate tonight, so stop by and say hello if you’re coming to the game. If your child signed up for Gladiator Army, he/she can enter through the BACK GATE. There will be a list by grade level where they will check in.
And a few random pictures from the week…
Have a fantastic weekend!
