Reminder: Next week is a 3-day week! Students are out of school Thursday, March 9- Monday March 13!
We kicked off the week with a great speech lesson. It was the end of the month, so Ms. Wilson showed a little more of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The students discussed body language and talked about what the characters were feeling.
We read a story about cleaning, and everyone assured me that they keep their room very neat. 😉 We cleaned our classroom and Home Living to practice our housekeeping skills.
We also read about whales this week, as it is a busy time for whale watching. On February 25, many people gathered together to count humpback whales. We discussed some characteristics of whales and learned that there are many different kinds of whales.
Our teacher shopping group and our Zaxby’s group both did fantastic work this week at jobsite!
We have been very busy practicing for our JCHS Idol performance that will take place next week (Tuesday) during Exceptional Children’s Week.
We continued working with roses during adapted art today, and we got to work with clay to make our own roses! They turned out great!
Other students in the school will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to have a disability during Exceptional Children’s Week, so we shopped for items that will be used during these simulations when we went to Target today. After Target, we walked over to Panera for a delicious lunch! I’m always so proud to see everyone order and pay for their lunch with very little assistance.
Many teachers will be wearing shirts to “End the R-word” next week- Todd helped me inventory when we received our delivery!
It has been a great week!
